Multi Engine Instrument Add-On
One engine... Two Engines... Three engines... more!
Adding multiple engine instrument add-ons to your pilot certificate are a great way to challenge and enhance your pilot skills allowing you to fly a vast number of different aircraft. And for single-engine pilots, just think about the added safety of another engine on those cross-country flights. We are located in Orange County, CA.
Minimum Requirements
There are no minimum requirements for an additional multiple engine instrument add-on. A person who wishes for an additional class rating on their pilot certificate must get an endorsement or training record from an authorized instructor attesting that the pilot is competent in the aeronautical knowledge areas and proficient in the areas of operation; and take a practical test (checkride). There is no specific training time and you need not take an additional knowledge test.

Frequently Asked Questions?
Single-Engine Class Add-on
What maneuvers are required for the addition of a single-engine class add-on?
Adding a commercial pilot single-engine class to an existing multi-engine class certificate is rather simple. There are assorted maneuvers such as lazy eights, eights on pylons and chandelles which cannot be safely conducted in multi-engine aircraft so they were not tested during the multi-engine flight test. Please consult the additional ratings task table in the PTS and the FAA-H-8083-3A "Flying Handbook" for more details.
I hold a commercial multi-engine, instrument rating certificate, will I be required to perform instrument maneuvers during the single-engine class add-on flight test.
No. The commercial pilot airplane single-engine class add-on rating is strictly a VFR maneuvers flight test.
Multi-Engine Class Add-on
If I decide to obtain a multi-engine rating at Advanced Charter Instruction LLC, will there be any restrictions on my certificate?
No. Advanced Charter Instruction LLC uses a conventional Cessna 310 Twin with no centerline thrust restriction.
If you are military jet centerline and already hold a multi-engine certificate with a "Centerline Thrust Restriction", completing our program will remove the restriction.
I hold an instrument rating on my single-engine airplane pilot certificate. Do I need to take an addition instrument checkride?
If you hold an instrument rating on your current pilot certificate, you will be required to perform instrument proficiency in selected task areas for a multi-engine class add-on. Please refer to the practical test standards (PTS) for which maneuvers will be required.
NOTE: This is not an instrument flight reexamination.

Frequently Asked Questions?
I just passed my initial flight instructor checkride. Are there any limitations on who I can start training with?
Yes. You as a flight instructor will be responsible for understanding what privileges, limitations and qualifications, records and additional flight training you will need before providing students with flight training and/or endorsements.
Reference: Subpart H — Flight Instructors Other than Flight Instructors With a Sport Pilot Rating.
Does a flight instructor certificate have an expiration date?
Yes. A flight instructor certificate expires on the 24th calender month from the month of issuance. For example, if you received your flight instructor certificate on March 15th, 2014, your flight instructor certificate would expire on March 31, 2016.
My flight instructor certificate has expired, how do I renew my flight instructor certificate?
Once a flight instructor certificate expires it can only be reinstated. To reinstate a flight instructor certificate you will need to take a flight instructor certification practical test (checkride) or a flight instructor certification practical test (checkride) for an additional rating. The reinstatement is NOT a reexamination of the initial flight test. Please consult your PTS ratings task table for additional information on which tasks are required. A reinstatement of one rating on a flight instructor certificate renews or reinstates all privileges existing on the certificate.
Can I select the examiner I would prefer for my initial CFI flight test?
No. The Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) will select a random examiner upon our request for an exam date. Certification for an initial flight instructor is always free of cost when conducted by the FAA examiner; however, in most cases, a designated pilot examiner (DPE) will be appointed and an examiner fee will be required.
